The leading public room developer and furnisher in the Baltics Kitman Ltd. obtained a unique sheet-metal bending centre. The 830 000 € investment adds technological capability to Kitman in creating innovative furnishing solutions.
"Thanks to the new sheet-metal bending centre, Kitman is able to offer its customers more innovative and exciting interior design solutions. Technological advantage increases production as well as sales volumes and helps create new jobs," said the manager of Kitman Ilo Rannu.
The new bending centre enables, as far as office furniture is concerned, partial replacement of chipboard parts, which are extensively used in the Baltics and Scandinavia, with thin sheet-metal parts. In addition to new opportunities in product design, the furnishings will become removal-proof and environmentally friendly, as the metal can be fully reused and it does not contain hazardous for health chemicals.
"The bending centre automates bending of thin sheet-metal, which used to take up a lot of human resources and was three times more time-consuming. Economies in time and labour reduce the production cost of products made with the new equipment, thus giving Kitman a substantial competition advantage," said Ilo Rannu.
Kitman made a substantial investment with the support of the programme of technological investment of the foundation "Enterprise Estonia". In 2010, Kitman invested, with the help of the financial support from Enterprise Estonia, into a unique in Estonia nitrogen generator, in order to produce itself nitrogen, necessary for the gas medium of the cutting process of laser benches.
This year, Kitman will invest into improving the working environment and increasing technological performance a total of 1.3 million euros.
Kitman Ltd. employs 142 people and belongs to the investment and holding company NG Investeeringud, which is based on Estonian capital and is active in the fields of industry, real estate and commerce. Kitman Ltd. was founded in 1936 as a metalworks, at present being the biggest developer of commercial furnishings in the Baltics, with 76 year old production and export experience.
